Pop Quiz! What’s the best way to spend a beautiful Sunday evening in May? If you guessed visiting a farm, sipping wine, listening to music, eating local delicious food & basking in the sun with friends ~ give yourself a gold star!  Sunday night I went to the Bread Riot here in Rowan County.

The Bread Riot’s website says~

The Bread Riot is a gathering of like-minded people in Salisbury and Rowan County, North Carolina that come together to bring local food to local people. Specifically, our mission is to cultivate a thriving local economy by facilitating a supply of locally produced food, utilize sustainable farming practices and focus on whole-life issues, education, and environmental concern.

  • We support local and sustainable agriculture.
  • We respect the environment.
  • We strive to reduce the impact of our lifestyles on the world we share with other species and future generations.
  • We prefer to work with local, earth-friendly producers.
  • We believe that every individual can make a tangible difference in the world by choosing their foods wisely – food choices that support their local and sustainably-minded producers.
  • We strive to make the Bread Riot welcoming and accessible to all and to respect the opinions, needs and concerns of every member.

Here are some of the shots I got.  Read more about the bread riot over on their website.
